For many years our fundraiser guests have turned down the driveway to Borges parks and been met with a lane lined with American flags down it’s length. We wonder how many people know after all these years the significance of this beautiful sight.

The Children’s Guardian Home fundraiser had been scheduled for September 18th in 2001. Of course, exactly one week before that, our nation was rocked by tragedy. The fundraising committee faltered on whether or not to go through with the event, because of course all of us were still in shock. Everyone decided to push through, and Augie, decided to line the driveway with our flag. Over 1000 people came together on that evening to lean on each other and raise money to purchase the house that would be come Children’s Guardian Fund. Every year since the flags have gone up in memory of the souls lost on 9/11.
